Eat lean protein lots of vegetables and only lower sugar fruits. good foods on low carb is boneless skinless chicken breast, any lean meat, a low sugar peanut butter, nearly any kind of beans, fish, shellfish, all green vegetables, some tomatoes, corn carrots in moderation apples, berries, low fat dairy and when you eat grains make them whole grains and reasonable portions (Pasta is a cup not a whole plate with a side of bread!) also OJ, bananas and Watermelon are VERY high in natural sugars which are carbs(a banana has more sugar than a snickers regular size bar!). limit anything made wth refined flour or grains such as white bread, pasta, watch out for instant rice and anything that come pre-prepared! you are looking for things with a low glycemic index. look it up for more info and food listings I lost over 100 lbs on the south beach diet a few years ago and did not gain it back, bc they teach you how to perminantly change your habits, although I had a kid and have some to lose now and i like the 1-2-4-8 rule. now major counting or restrictions i eat one SMALL portion of healthy carb(like 1/ 2 a whole wheat english muffin) DOUBLE THAT of a healthy protein(like 1 egg and 1 egg white scrambled) with DOUBLE THAT of veggies(2 TBSP salsa on top and 1 cup low sodium v8) I make sure I get 8 glasses water a day besides whatever else i drink and 2 servings lean dairy.(add some low fat cheese to that sandwich thing above) you'd never think you were dieting but you are! and it works! follow that rule with smart choices and you'll see results. just watch out again for sugar intake! |
