Let me state first, i don't really care about numbers. i care about what i look like. i'm 5'2 " about 190lbs. i'm 17 years old. my diet consists of: i only drink water. i drink maybe 4- 5 bottles a day. one bottle with every meal. and then i drink off and on during the day. breakfast- a banana and some oatmeal. or a waffle with strawberries. lunch- a half of a turkey sandwich on wheat bread and strawberry spinach salad. (1 cup of spinach, 2 tablespoons of dressing, 2 strawberries) dinner- it changes from night to night since i'm still living at home and my mom makes dinner every night. but, rather than cutting out all good foods she makes, i'm just going to eat half of what i normally eat. snacks- i'll either have a banana with some peanut butter. (about 1 tablespoon of peanut butter) or i will just snack on some cauliflower or carrots. maybe even some spinach. my exercise plan: i live in a cold area and i don't have my license yet. (hopefully i'll get them in a month or two so i can get a gym membership) so, what i do daily is i walk 1 mile on the treadmill. (i split it up. i walk about .4 miles. do other exercises. walk .4 miles, then do the other exercises. then i finish off the mile.) the other exercises i do is i left two 12lb dumbbells. i do seated arm rows and i do a chest press with these. i do about 20 of these and i do that twice. then, i do about two sets of squats. and then i we have like a bowflex and i do some other arm exercise. i also do about 30- 40 sit ups. my question is, will i lose weight doing this and how fast do you think i'll see results? also, if you have any other tips for me to add to my diet or exercise, i'd appreciate it!

Any person with experience in the health field will tell you that changing your body fat ratio is nearly impossible. It is ingrained into your genetics. While diet and exercise can help if you had previously had a very poor diet and no exercise, you will probably not see any dramatic results. I suggest that you continue a healthy diet and exercise simply for your well being. If you eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, and some meats such as poultry, you are likely to feel much better in terms of daily living. Switching your diet to only water is also very helpful, and many people do see some weight loss from this switch as "soft-drinks " contain large amounts of calories and sugars that most people over look as it is coming in the form of a liquid and not a food. However, overall diet and exercise will only put you at your natural healthy body weight. Continue to eat and drink healthy, and exercise. Learn to love yourself the way you are. Western culture tells us that we have to conform to a certain look, but that is far out from what is healthy for most people!

I think you will see results, but it will be a slow process. You shoukd try to bump up the cardio. Only walking 1 mile is not sufficient cardio. I would look into the Biggest Loser home workout dvds...Your eating looks good, as long as you can stick with it. Make sure you take vitamins and get plenty of rest.
