Because you dont need to, keep the carbs in your to young to take them out, i tried bodybuilding for a while and now doing powerlifting and the low carbs suck effective be sucks, the problem is your still growing and in your most hormonal prime. How about instead you eat lean and clean, 6 times a day no bigger then your fist, no fried foods and junk. You need the carbs for swimming because its feeding your body and your energy levels soon your swimming performance will drop. and lastly your brain uses glycogen ( sugar = carbs in the body) to function and think properly, since your only 14 your probably still in school. Im pretty sure your at a good wieght, im 5'2 170 haha so dont sweat it. enjoy being young |

3 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH TO SEE ANY SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT LOSE. IT WILL BE HARDER FOR YOU BECAUSE IN ALL HONESTY YOUR NOT OVERWEIGHT. THIS DIET WORKS BEST FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE OBESE IMO. YOU NEED TO RUN THROUGH THE ENTIRE INTRO PHASE. IT TAKES SOME PEOPLE LONGER THAN OTHERS TO KICK INTO KETOSIS. YES, EXERCISE WILL SPEED UP THE PROCESS. THE SOONER YOU BURN UP YOUR STORED CARBS, THE FASTER YOU'LL MOVE INTO YOUR NEXT STAGE. GOOD LUCK :) |

Atkins puts your body in ketosis. At 14 you can do some serious damage to your kidneys on this. It hard on adults too. Every body is different. It still takes 3500 calorie deficit to loose just 1 lb. Atkins died from heart disease. Too much animal flesh. Atkins had coronary heart disease and when he died it was reported originally that he had another heart attack which caused him to fall and hit his head. Basically he made lots of money from people whom do not under stand how nutrients and body actually works. He was a cardiologist not a nutritionist. He rose to fame because he allowed people to eat their high meat diets and told them they would loose weight. he never said you would be healthy. The number of people with heart disease after following the Atkins plan has been documented and is staggering as they age. |

Just make sure you work out seven days a week and you will lose weight. One day work out upper body then work out your lower body. And make sure you run with your workouts. |

The initial weight loss from any low carb diet is water lost. And you might not have a lot of water to lose. Other's have more so they will lose more in the first week. After around 2 weeks our body is fully adapted to burn fat as fuel. It takes our body time to make that switch from a glucose burning machine to a fat burning machine. For the record, I fully believe in the benefits of a low carb diet but I don't endorse the Atkins way. He doesn't seem to put much emphasis on over all calories or what types of fat to eat. I would make sure your total calories dont exceed 1200 and only eat healthy fats. You have to be careful your exercise isn't too high intensity as your body will use glucose to fuel high intensity. High intensity is defined as a heart rate above 130 beats per minute. Since you are not eating carbs your body is depleted of glucose so your body will burn your muscle to create glucose. IT is best you keep your exercise low intensity as much as possible. 45 mins max of high intensity per day. That could be lifting weights or swimming. I hope that other 2 hours of cardio is low intensity cardio as this will give you the best results on that type of diet. edit: and Atkins did not die from heart desease! At 72 Atkins slipped on ice while walking to work, hitting his head and causing bleeding around his brain. He lost consciousness and went into a coma on the way to the hospital. He spent nine days in intensive care, before dying of his injuries on April 17, 2003 |

You definately will never lose 15 lbs in two weeks. the more heavy you are the more weight you will lose. Since your not that big your probably only going to lose a lb a week maybe. To lose 15 lbs it will take probably 8 weeks if not more. |

The bars & shakes will stop weight loss cold. The first week is just water weight. Carbs are stored as glycogen, when you quit eating carbs you deplete the glycogen stores & the water they hold. Glycogen holds 3x it's weight in water. It's like wringing out a sponge. If you eat carbs again, you will automatically refill the glycogen stores & the water they hold. You are not overweight. You could gain 16# & still not be overweight. Atkins may readjust your body weight increasing lean tissues & lowering fat stores making you smaller, but I wouldn't expect to see any weight loss on the scale & surely not in 2 weeks. I believe Atkins is the best way to bring a body to a state of optimal health but it will only normalize a body, it won't allow you to go underweight. There is no reason to ever go off a low carb way of eating, you slowly re introduce carbs to your way of eating and as long as you don't exceed 9grams of carbs an hour (144 carbs a day) you won't trigger insulin (the fat storage hormone) no matter the calories. Most of us do low carb most of the time & if we cheat & slip back into low carb the next day. I still cheat with sugar occasionally. It's just not a regular part of my life (as it was preAtkins, 6 years ago, when I felt it controlled me & I had no control) The rungs to reintroduction of carbs in 5 gram units - all available to very active people in as little as 11 weeks. Make sure you do them in order & you can skip a rung if you do not intend to include it in your permanent way of eating, such as the alcohol rung.: * (minimum week 3 - maximum 25grams day) Acceptable vegetables, larger quantities * (minimum week 4 - maximum 30grams day) Add 5grams Fresh cheese * (minimum week 5 - maximum 35grams day) Add 5grams Nuts and seeds * (minimum week 6 - maximum 40grams day) Add 5grams Berries * (minimum week 7 - maximum 45grams day) Alcohol can be added if desired * (minimum week 8 - maximum 50grams day) Add 5grams Legumes * (minimum week 9 - maximum 55grams day) Add 5grams Other fruits * (minimum week10 - maximum 60grams day) Add 5grams Starchy vegetables * (minimum week11 - maximum 65grams day) Add 5grams Whole grains If you are continuing to lose or maintain (whichever is goal) in week 12 and beyond, you continue to add 5grams a day per week til you reach your personal carb level. You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace. Your body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food. Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat. The core of the Atkins program is converting your body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). You need to keep your fat levels at >65% of your calories, if you don't your body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis). Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin, the fat storage hormone. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger and unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels. Ground flax seed (2-4 Tbsp) 1/ 4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs. The first 2 weeks you can have several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce and celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers and more variety of vegetables thereafter add 5 grams per day additional (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) every week til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) As long as you remain <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn't gain weight no matter the calories, beca |

Sounds like you just need to kick start your metabolism. Try eating five or six times a day rather than two or three. But make the meals much smaller and make sure they are healthy. Or you could just try cutting down your portions and eating more fruits and veggies. There are also several different supplements that can assist you with weight loss. This site lists a couple that actually worked. iceipho.notlong.com |
